AQA and Construction EPA Company Have Joined Forces To Shape The Future of Construction Education

Samuel Riley, CEO of Construction EPA Company said
“I am delighted to announce that AQA and Construction EPA Company have joined forces to shape the future of Construction education.
For many years; I have believed that to protect our success to date and continue our journey to positively impact as many lives as possible, joining forces with a larger, established organisation would be necessary one day. However timing would be key and most importantly, the acquiring company would need to be aligned with our intentions and values.
In September 2024, during the continued search for the perfect partnership, Construction EPA Company met AQA Education.
After the first meeting with Colin Hughes, CEO at AQA I left inspired and enthused by the vision and commitment AQA have towards changing lives through education. Since then we have been working confidentially with our team of professionals and advisors. During this time, I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with wonderful AQA colleagues and every interaction has left me feeling more and more reassured that AQA is the right home for our business and its amazing people.
From completing my GCSE’s with AQA 21 years ago, to today being able to say Construction EPA Company and AQA have joined forces to positively shape the Construction education sector, makes me immensely proud. It’s fair to say education has positively changed my life and I want that to be true for many more.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of AQA, I am very pleased to say my team and I will remain in the business. AQA and Construction EPA Company’s values are very much aligned, providing the perfect home for our people and ensuring our customers and learners receive the same great service now and in the future.”
Who are AQA?
AQA are an independent education charity, providing high quality assessments that are fair, reliable, and support students in their educational journey. AQA are on a mission to grow their vocational presence – that’s where we come in!
They set and mark the papers for over half of all GCSEs and A-levels taken every year. But exams are only part of the story – they also make sure the content of qualifications support great teaching.
At AQA the line which encapsulates their values is that they aim never to let a learner down.
Colin Hughes, CEO of AQA Education said
“I am delighted to welcome CEC as an independent subsidiary into the AQA Group. We have a long history in delivering ‘general qualifications’ (GCSEs and A-levels) and a more recent history of delivering vocational qualifications through TQUK.
As we have seen from the media and the Government, the vocational sector is crucially important in building growth in the UK. This is particularly the case in construction, where output is expected to grow by 2.4% between 2024-2028 with the need for an additional 250,000 construction workers. Only a couple of weeks ago the new Government announced its intention to fund tens of thousands of new training opportunities.
Construction EPA is at the forefront of providing those potential workers with the highest quality assessment and we are delighted to welcome such a successful company into the Group.
At AQA the line which encapsulates our values is that we aim never to let a learner down. I know that is also true in Construction EPA. Both organisations are committed to changing lives through education. I very much look forward to seeing what we can achieve in partnership – not only growth for our business, but also having a real and positive impact on thousands upon thousands of young lives.”
